The Fargo Public Schools Elementary Enrichment program offers a wide variety of classes for children who have completed grades 2-5. The summer enrichment courses are intended to strengthen students’ self-esteem, learn new abilities, and encourage lifelong learning through creative and enriching activities.

If your child is in kindergarten or first grade during the 2018-2019 school year- STOP!

Enrichment courses are only offered for students who have completed second grade through fifth grade. No exceptions!

Please register for the grade they are currently in.

The deadline to register is Friday, May 31, 2019.
Late fee of $10 is required if registering after May 31st.
Refunds will be given for cancellations until May 31st. No refunds of any sort after May 31st.
Classes with low numbers will be cancelled. Parents will be contacted after May 31st if applicable.

Diving Into Project-Based Learning

Diving Into Project-Based Learning Students will create projects to enhance their learning in math, science, technology and art. Students will be engaged in STEM projects and dive into their interests. Students may create a pet store, a zoo, build a dinosaur park or a restaurant. If your child's interest is to build a solar oven, that will be created! All projects will be linked to Common Core Standards in math, and the Next Generation Science Standards. Students will be adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, counting money, telling time, and more! These projects will be a springboard to enhance the investigation of math and science curriculum. In addition to this PBL, about 5 hours will be focusing on hands-on-algebra. This unit will get your child an early start on understanding algebra. It's All 3D to Me in a Make-Believe World of Artescapes ”Ahoy Matey”! YOU are invited to explore this hands-on mixed media experience. Students will investigate a variety of mediums and techniques while creating their fantasy worlds of fairies, mermaids and make believe on land, sea and in the city. This class will bring out your most creative self ever by looking at how things are in the real world and add a touch of enchantment. We’ll design 2D and 3D environments with a dash of magic; 3D sculptures with a twist of fantasy. The sky is the limit – be the best of the best by exploring this fantastical world you are about to enter! After exploring our fantastical world of artescapes, we will be having a gallery show at the end of this enrichment session. Family and friends are invited to attend. Multicultural Art: Around the World in 15 Days of Artistic Creations Get ready to make an artistic journey around the world in 15 days. We will begin with a tour of the Ancient pyramids. We will learn about and create your choice of a King Tut or Queen Nefertiti mask. We will create hieroglyphics pictures while learning about many other Egyptian secrets. Creating a life size sarcophagus will also be one of our Masterpieces as well. During our next virtual trip, we will also travel to Asia, Africa and Mexico.  There we will see the art of Asia with its illustrious dragons and Koi fish.  We will also go on a safari to the jungles of Africa and choose one of its amazing animals to paint.  We will also tour Mexico to make Sun/Moon Paintings. Be prepared for some surprise projects as well.   At the end of their trip, students will have a gallery show in which friends and family may come to view the amazing artwork! Reading with Critical Thinking & Writing Creativity Jacob's Ladder is supplemental reading program that implements targeted readings from short stories, poetry and nonfiction sources. Students engage in an inquiry process that moves from lower to higher order thinking skills. Starting with basic literary understandings, students learn to critically analyze texts by determining implications and consequences, generalizations, main ideas and/or creative synthesis. Our small group reading activities will be engaging and fun while helping to enhance your child's reading comprehension and critical thinking skills. Students will "climb" each ladder together and learn to be more confident readers and critical thinkers along the way! Students will also tap into their creative writing styles by writing stories that pair up with our Jacob's Ladder texts. Students will have a choice of writing short stories, poetry, picture books or informational texts.
