WELCOME TO DRIVER'S EDUCATION

 

To register your student for a session, you must choose which session and complete the entire transaction.  Sessions are open to the following (All dates are approximate):


Session 1 (starts 9/7/21) is open to students that turn 15 by 11/3/2021 

Dates: 9/7-9/10, 9/14-9/17, 9/21-9/24,9/28-9/30, 10/1, 10/5-10/8, 10/12-10/15, 10/18-10/20, 10/26-10/29, 11/2-11/5

 

Session 2 (starts 11/9/21) is open to students that turn 15 by 1/19/2022

Dates: 11/9-11/12, 11/16-11/19, 11/22-11/24, 11/30, 12/1-12/3, 12/7-12/10, 12/14-12/17, 12/20-12/22, 1/4/22-1/7/22, 1/10/22-1/14/22

 

Session 3 (starts 1/25/22) is open to students that turn 15 by 3/23/2022

Dates: 1/225/22-1/28/22, 2/1/22-2/4/22, 2/8/22-2/11/22, 2/14/22-2/17/22, 2/22/22-2/25/22, 3/1/22-3/4/22, 3/7/22-3/10/22, 3/15/22-3/17/22

 

Session 4 (starts 3/29/22) is open to students that turn 15 by 5/25/2022

Detailed Information on sessions and dates can be found here:   https://www.egf.k12.mn.us/o/senior-high-school/page/driver-s-education--12 TO OBTAIN A DRIVER'S LICENSE BEFORE THE AGE OF 18, THE STATE OF MINNESOTA REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING: (Price $300) Completion of 30 hours of Classroom Training Completion of 6 hours Behind the Wheel Training These are both offered at the Senior High School through Community Education. You may enroll by completing this payment or paying the $300.00 fee at the Senior High School's Main Office located at 1420 4th Ave NW, East Grand Forks. There will be NO refunds should a student fail or drop out of the Driver Education program. GENERAL INFORMATION Driver Education Fee:  $300.00 includes 30 hours classroom and 6 hours of Behind the Wheel training Class Times:  7:30 - 8:25 a.m. Class Days:  Tuesdays through Fridays and the Mondays noted on the schedule. Location:  Senior High Room 195/Community Room Limits:  40 students per session REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: Students must present to the examiner a Certified copy of their Birth Certificate and Social Security Card (not laminated)before they can take the test. TRANSPORTATION: A bus will provide return transportation to the Middle School and to Sacred Heart during the 4th session only. STRICT ATTENDANCE GUIDELINES: More than three misses for any reason, and the student is no longer enrolled in the class. They must pay again and take a later session. Two tardies count as one miss. BEHIND THE WHEEL INSTRUCTION: Consists of 6 hours of instruction and is offered May through July. The instructor will contact the student to set up a driving schedule after the full payment has been received. If a student misses their scheduled driving appointment without prior notice, a $35 charge will be assessed and the student will not be allowed to drive until the fee is paid. PARENT SESSION Effective January 1, 2015, every driver under the age of 18 who completes behind the wheel instruction and is testing for a provisional driver's license must submit a driving log. Parents/guardians have two options regarding the driving log: Complete a supplemental parent class provided by a driver education program approved in Minnesota, and then submit a supervised driving log showing the student has completed at least 40 hours of supervised driving, 15 hours of which are night time hours; OR If the parent/guardian does not complete the supplemental parent class, the driving log must show that the student has completed at least 50 hours of supervised driving, 15 of which are night time hours. Dates of parent classes will be announced each quarter by Mr. Kjono.
