  Summer Session (starts 06/04/2024) is open to students that turn 15 by 08/01/2024   WELCOME TO DRIVER'S EDUCATION-Summer Session 2024 Sessions will be assigned/limited based on the student's Date of Birth. Detailed Information on sessions and dates can be found here:  https://www.egf.k12.mn.us/o/senior-high-school/page/drivers-education TO OBTAIN A DRIVER’S LICENSE BEFORE THE AGE OF 18, THE STATE OF MINNESOTA REQUIRES ● Completion of 30 hours of Classroom Training ● Completion of six hours of Behind the Wheel Training These are both offered at the Senior High School. You may enroll by paying the $355.00 fee in the Senior High’s Office at 1420 4 th  Ave NW, East Grand Forks, MN. There will be NO refunds should a student fail or drop out of the Driver Education program. Driver Education Fee : $355.00 includes 30 hours of classroom and 6 hours of Behind the Wheel training Class Times : 8:00am-11:10 am - at Sr. High. There will be TWO (2) short reaks built into each session Class Days : Jun: 1-7,10-14, and 17. If needed, June 18th will be a makeup day. Test Day : Students who have completed the course and are at least 15 years of age are eligible to test on June 18th. Location :  EGF Sr. High School -Room 223        Limit : 35 students per session. *********************** REQUIRED DOCUMENTS *********************** In order to test: STUDENTS MUST PRESENT TO THE EXAMINER A CERTIFIED COPY OF THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND SOCIAL SECURITY CARD (NOT LAMINATED) Effective January 1, 2015, every driver under the age of 18 who completes behind-the-wheel instruction and is testing for a provisional driver’s license must submit a driving log. Parents/guardians have two options regarding the driving log: ● Complete a supplemental parent class provided by a driver education program approved in Minnesota, and then submit a supervised driving log showing the student has completed at least 40 hours of supervised driving, 15 hours of which are nighttime hours; OR ● If the parent/guardian does not complete the supplemental parent class, the driving log must show that the student has completed at least 50 hours of supervised driving, 15 of which are nighttime hours. The optional parent class will be held by Driver’s Education Instructor, Dane Kjono on June 13th in room 195 at the Senior High School. STRICT ATTENDANCE GUIDELINES : Students must attend sessions in person. If the student has more than 1 absences for any reason they will no longer be enrolled in the class.  They must pay again and retake the class at a later session.  If a student misses a day, they will need to make up the time on the makeup day - June 18. This class will be conducted fully in person. BEHIND THE WHEEL INSTRUCTION : The instructor will contact the student to set up a driving schedule after the full payment has been received. If a student misses their scheduled driving appointment without prior notice, a $35 charge will be assessed and the student will not be allowed to drive until the fee is paid.
