Each high school student will be afforded the opportunity to receive a laptop computer issued by the District to ensure equitable access to technology. To be eligible to receive a laptop, parents must "opt-in" by agreeing to have a laptop issued to their student and pay a $25, non-refundable laptop fee. The initial rollout of laptops to 9th graders will begin in September at the following high schools - Lincoln, Chief Sealth, Cleveland, Franklin, Rainier Beach, Seattle World School, and South Lake.
Additional information and forms can be found on the Department of Technology's Student 1:1 Laptop Program website. Leaving the SchoolPay website may require you to log back into SchoolPay.
In alignment with Washington State Technology Standards, career and college readiness goals, and in order to address the "digital divide", the District will provide a laptop computer to each ninth grade student beginning in the 2019-2020 school year for use by the student for four (4) years. The decision to equip incoming 9th graders with a laptop computer ensures students have the tools and skills needed to be successful in high school and beyond.
