This relaxed, introductory class is perfect for those who are either brand new to pencil drawing or for those artists who want to develop a stronger skill-set of basic drawing techniques. We will explore various drawing materials such as pencil, charcoal, chalk, etc., covering basic drawing techniques, how to arrange a composition, and the variety of lines and tones used to bring a drawing to life. Through skill-building exercises and guided projects, you will discover the elements of line, contour, form, value, texture, composition, proportion, shading, and perspective. Class work will include a number of drawing exercises and projects including imaginative and observational drawing, landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, abstraction, and more! A combination of group and individual instruction in a supportive atmosphere will help you to develop at your own pace, with an emphasis on strengthening technique and promoting self-expression. Students who have taken NCE classes in watercolor painting, acrylic painting, drawing, colored pencils, and other media will find this class instrumental in reinforcing your artistic skill-set and drawing foundations. A materials list can be found here. Limited to 12.
