Growing Organic Fruit at Home
This class will include 1-2 visits to the instructor’s home gardens, with social distancing guidelines observed.
Freshly picked organic fruit from your own garden...what better way to enjoy the flavors of summer? Veteran gardener, Peter Haushka, would like to share his passion for growing fruit organically with those who are new to fruit growing and those who would like to maximize and improve their crop using organic practices. The first class will begin by covering which fruits grow well in this region and what growing conditions they require. Peter will share his trusted sources for purchasing your plants and materials. In the next class, layout of berry patches and orchard soil building will be discussed, along with trellising and crop protection. Pollinators, harvesting and storage will be the topics of the third session, and the final night will cover pruning and seasonal maintenance. Limited to 10.
