BLAST (Babysitter Lessons and Safety Training) class

Babysitting Training BLAST! Instructor: Mary Johnson For many pre-teens and teens planning on picking up jobs during the summer months, babysitting is one way to earn some extra cash. The American Academy of Pediatrics and American Heart Association offers this course to help individuals, 11 years of age and older, prepare for the responsibility of babysitting. Learn how to care for infants through school age children and perform tasks such as diapering, preparing simple meals, and dressing. In addition, the course offers ideas for toys and games to play with the children. With safety as the utmost important factor, learn how to handle emergencies and focus on safe care of infants and children. Handouts available. Please bring a bag lunch. Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Full Course/Ref Instructor: Mary Johnson   The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course meets the training needs of child care providers in almost all U.S. states. The training meets the Minnesota Department of Human Services Rule 2 and 3 requirement, while also being a comprehensive resource for parents, grandparents, teachers, babysitters, or anyone responsible for the safety of children. Combining classroom and hands-on skill components, child care providers and parents learn critical first aid skills, ranging from how to create a safe environment, how to help a child/infant who is choking, to preventing injuries and lifesaving CPR. Course content also includes illnesses and injuries, bleeding and bandaging, allergic reactions, how to use an epinephrine pen, asthma, bites and stings, and burns. Storybook Theatre Camp

Storybook Theatre’s Three Little Pigs Coming to Lake Park- Audubon.  A sweet and delightful twist to a classic tale! August 19th-24th Join LPA Community Education and Storybook Theatre on this sweet and savory adventure to find out if Sheriff Crooks gets away with his evil plan or will the Three Little Pigs prevail by the hair on their chinny chin chins and win this year’s contest. Audition Schedule: August 19th, 2024. 10 am- 12:00 pm Due to time constraints, everyone must attend the initial audition to be considered for the casting of the show. Rehearsals will be held for 2 hours on the first day immediately following auditions. Rehearsals: August 19th – 12:45- 2:45 pm | August 20th-22nd 10 am-2:45 pm (we break for lunch from 12 pm till 12:45 Students will be supervised during lunch please send them with a packed lunch) Dress Rehearsals: August 23rd, 2024. The schedule will be announced at a later date.
